Shamala Jayasekera is a composer and arranger from Montreal, Quebec (Canada.) In 2017 she completed the Master Certificate in Arranging and Orchestration from Berklee College of Music (Online), which also awarded her the Herbie Hancock Celebrity Scholarship in 2016. In 2018 she was a finalist in the Montreal International Film Scoring Competition. Shamala was originally trained in classical piano at the Vincent d'Indy School of Music, where she completed the Collegiate II certificate. She studied at McGill University (B.Com, MBA) and worked for many years as a project manager in the field of Information Technology. Shamala has studied Music Composition for Film and TV at Berklee Online as well as participated in several film composing workshops in Montreal. She also taught piano for 17 years in Pointe-Claire, Quebec, and has composed music for several student films.
